NHIAA Announces Football Playoff Revisions/Clarifications

2013-10-16

The NHIAA has revised Section 6 for Tournament Selection and Seedings for all Divisions this season.

NHIAA 2013 Handbook

BY-LAW ARTICLE XIX

Football

Boys

Revised/Clarified Sect. 6: Tournament Selection

Sect. 6: Tournament Selection will be based on:

Conference Games

  • Division I: Top two teams in each conference based on overall win/loss record will compete for their conference title.
  • Division II & III: Top two teams in each conference utilizing the Football Point Rating System will compete for their conference title.
  • Only games in division will count toward tournament selection prior to the Tie-Breaking Procedure.

Seeding for Semi-Finals and Finals

  • The Football Point Rating System will be utilized to seed the four conference champions in each division based on their regular season record.

Note: The Conference Games are not considered part of the regular season.

  • In the case of a tie the Tie-Breaking Procedure (Sect. 7 of the Football By-Law) will be applied.
  • Semifinal Games will be set using By-Law Article I: Policy; Sect. 16: Tournament Champions (1-4; 2-3)

Non-divisional and out-of-state games DO NOT count in the standings for all divisions. These games will be utilized during the tie-breaking procedures if necessary; therefore it will be necessary to manually report scores to the NHIAA.
