The Sentinel Title Services BST Summer Madness Quarterfinal Re-Cap

 It was Manchester Central's work on the boards early and their perimeter defense on Bishop Brady's all-state duo of Jourdain and Joe Bell late that was the difference in a 71-55 win that advances the Little Green back to the BST summer Madness Final Four this weekend. Brett Hanson led the way for Central with 23 points while point guard Dawson Dickson and guard Mike Plentzas added 14 apiece in the win. Brady was led by point guard Jourdain Bell with 17 while Danny Fogarty added 15.

 In other quarterfinal action Bishop Guertin beat Merrimack 42-38 in a game just as tough of a grind it out defensive battle as the score indicates. Both teams were intense and physical defensively but BG held a three point lead going into the final minute of play. That's when all-state guard Eric Gendron of Merrimack stepped behind a
screen and buried a three pointer to tie the game but BG responded as lightning quick sophomore guard Jack Zimmerman snuck inside for a defensive rebound and was fouled. Zimmerman buried both shots to put the Division I runner-up ahead by two and BG then survived several Merrimack opportunities in the last forty seconds to tie the game or move ahead. Zimmerman's final two free throws with two seconds left sealed the deal and moved BG on to the semifinals Friday night. Kyle Gavin led BG with 13 points in the win while Merrimack was led by Gendron's 14.

 Tim Riehl had the hot hand early with a pair of three's as NYDL-White held a 24-20 halftime lead over Hopkinton. A switch to a 2-3 zone though helped slow down a very game Hopkinton team in the second half as NYDL-White advanced to the final four with a 56-40 victory. Riehl would finish with 14 on the night while Lounge member Connor Walsh added 13. Hopkinton was led by Liam McNicholas and Luke Luneau with 12 and 11 respectively.
