With the Division III & IV Tournaments underway and Division II finished up we’ll take a quick look at a few of the games going on in Division I Friday night.

Last Saturday’s annual Bracketology Show was a huge success and now we’ll roll out the Division I & Division II version on Saturday morning.  Hollis-Brookline head coach Mike Soucy will help break down Division II while Winnacunnet head coach Jay McKenna will be on later in the hour to try and sort out the Division I bracket.

Of course we will re-cap all the Division III first round and Division IV quarterfinal action as well as we will be covering two games on both nights.

Listen live on 96.7 FM on the seacoast, WGIR 610 AM in Manchester or listen all over the state online at:

 Seacoast Basketball Tournament

Before we get to the games I wanted to name our NHsportspage Seacoast Team and give people information about how they can put a team together for the annual event. We plan to cover a few games on video and will be doing write-ups as well.

Games are played at the New Coney Bean Gymnasium in Portsmouth and there will be two high school boys divisions.

For the high school boys, in the "A" division, teams can be comprised of players from multiple high schools.  For the "B" division, players must be from the same high school.  When submitting your roster, you must identify the high schools that the players currently attend.

Teams are guaranteed a minimum of two games during the tournament.

NHsportspage has won back to back titles in the A division including a soul crushing 25 point quarterfinal win last year over The Fighting McIsaacs, a very talented but poorly coached team (come on I kid!!! Seriously he must throw a half a dozen 1990’s wrestling references per game at his players..poor Darian Berry…)

You can sign up your team for the tournament by googling the Portsmouth NH Babe Ruth website  or http://pbrb.goalline.ca/

For additional information, contact the tournament director Peter Goodwin at pgoodwin@portsmouthbaberuth.org  or 603- 812-7566, or Mike Young at Myoung@portsmouthbaberuth.org.

To order team shirts you can reach out to Mike Eliasberg at 603-828-7320

The NHsportspage Team Roster     (*) returning player

Brett Hanson of Tilton Prep.  *
Joey Martin of Manchester Central *
 Evan MacDonald of Manchester Central
 Cody Ball of Londonderry
 Keith Brown of Pelham
 Ryan Cloutier of Pelham
 Geo Baker of Pinkerton Academy
 Cody Graham of Portsmouth

 Division I

 Londonderry (17-0) at Spaulding (15-2)

Nate Stanton’s team clinched the top seed in the Division I tournament and will be able to put away the road blue jerseys for the summer after this one.

Londonderry has had a nice mix of easy nights & games that have gone to the wire. All of which will make them a very formidable top seed next week. The Fighting McIsaacs can clinch the 3 seed with a win but open up the door for Pinkerton to snatch it with a defeat. The Astros beat Spaulding 67-54 back on February 10th and therefore own the tie-breaker.

This will be a fun match-up that features two excellent coaches and a pair of first team all-state guards in Darian Berry and Cody Ball. The Lancers have come together nicely and bonded as a team over the last three or four weeks but faces one last test before the post-season begins next week.

Quick hit thoughts on some of the other games on Friday nights schedule:

 Bedford (10-7) at Exeter (5-12)
The coverage of Bedford is sponsored by Bedford Dental Care Assoc.

The Blue Hawks are in jeopardy of missing out on the tournament and will seal their fate with a home loss to Mike Fitzpatrick’s Bulldogs. Bedford is getting really good production from Ryan Hughes (14.9 ppg), Colby Gendron (12.5) and Ryan Brown (11.2) and has won three in a row to climb to the #5 seed.

 Keene (6-11) at Winnacunnet (6-11)

Hey kids…want to avoid going to Londonderry or Manchester Central in the opening round?? Win here then…otherwise that is your likely (final) destination.

Winner here stays out of the bottom four and Winnacunnet could even catch Bishop Guertin for the 12 seed with a win and a BG loss. That would also put Jay McKenna in a better mood for the Bracketology Show,…we like happy coaches on our show..

Salem (6-11) at Manchester Memorial (7-10)
The coverage of Salem is sponsored by Merrimack Valley Sports

I’ve been a little confused by both of these teams throughout the past three months and each comes into the season finale with a lot to be gained. Memorial doesn’t want to get into what looks like it could be a huge tie-breaker vortex at 7-11 while Salem wants to stay away from the Londonderry/Central all inclusive trip.

Since Trevon Maughn’s (17.0 ppg) return the entire Crusaders team has alternated between a team that looks a lot like the dangerous Final Four team of a year ago and five guys who met each other at the park five minutes ago and already have forgotten each other’s names….we’ll see who shows up Friday night.
